Kickstarter: Runcible – Circular Open Source Anti-Smartphone

Currently there is a kickstarter campaign for a “circular open source Anti-Smartphone” that I backed a few weeks ago.

Note that manufacturing has been secured and Runcible is going to ship in fall 2016. This is your chance to get one in 2016! Next production run may happen sometime  in 2017.

Runcible is a new category of personal electronic which occupies a space between a traditional mobile phone and a wearable device.

Featuring a first-of-its-kind fully round screen and a palm-sized form factor, Runcible is modeled on devices humans have carried around with them and loved for hundreds or thousands of years: the pocket watch, the compact, the compass, the magical stone in your hand.

copyheart

Copying art is an act of love.

People copy stuff they like. They don’t copy stuff they don’t like. The more a work is copied, the more valuable it becomes. Value isn’t taken away by fans, it is added by them, every time they copy.

Surfing the web I found a “copyright” notice with a heart symbol like:

2015 by foobar. Copying is an act of love, please share.

This unusual message caught my attention and I figured out that the heart symbol was a link to http://copyheart.org/

So instead of trying to educate everyone on the complexities of copyright law, you can make your intentions clear with this simple statement:

♡2015 by foobar. Copying is an act of love. Please copy.

or

♥ 2015 by foobar. Copying is an act of love. Please copy.

In my opinion the version with the hyperlinked heart is the most useful one because it offers explanation to the curious:

2015 by foobar. Copying is an act of love, please share.

I’m interested in your opinion about copyheart and appreciate comments.

Video games

Today I want to share a guardian article about the top 20 best video games for beginners. I have never heard about many of them and they look promising:

Because one of my favourite games is not included I post another link to the Battle for Wesnoth homepage.  It’s a crossplatform (Windows/Linux/OS X) turnbased strategy game:
